DAMNBass Drop Music & Skunky Beats know what’s up: Poirier, Kraddy, Juakali, Matty G & Resident Anti-Hero at their Hempfest afterparty in the old Rainier Brewery + heaps of locals, vendors, live painting, dancers and art on the rooftop of the Old Rainier Brewery.

Hempfest is the largest protestival in the world and takes place August 21 & 22 and runs north and south along the waters of Elliott Bay in downtown Seattle. You can listen to speakers, dance to all kinds of music, go on munchie runs for snow cones, buy all manner of bongs and smoke fat joints right in front of the SPD. It’s a beautiful weekend.

United By Bass presents: Freq Nasty, Mimosa & Jantsen in Seattle May 14

Posted in Events with tags , , , on April 21, 2010 by worldromper

Seattle’s bass music community is alive and well and as evidence: this party, held in the newly renovated Cirque Event Center featuring some of my very favorites: futurestep pioneer Freq Nasty, Family Moons denizen and old school maestro Jantsen and recent LA transplant Mimosa who I have heard play three times in the past month- and I wish it was more. From beat heads at Low End Theory to the sun-soaked Coachella crowd to ravers in a dark dirty warehouse, the crowd loves Mimosa’s unique brand of crunchier, more organic dubstep-ish. As do I.

Buddhaful brings the fashion slice and even better –Noisemaker will be back from an extended expedition to the Caribbean where he has been playing too much “darkstep” for the locals, no doubt. This is one of those parties that makes me want to hop a plane up to Puget Sound!

The shit goes down Friday May 14; find out more about the party on NWTekno and get your $20 presales here.

GET LEI’D @ Mike B’s Birthday Party JAN 29 in Seattle

Posted in Events with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on January 13, 2010 by worldromper

That’s right, I’m promoting one of my best friend’s birthday parties on my blog!

If you live in Seattle, you know who Michael B is, and there’s a damn good chance you’ve partied in his loft. Possibly multiple times, possibly multiple days.

He is more than a man, he is a theory. Mike B is a way of life.

And he’s celebrating his birthday Friday January 29 in Seattle to the tune of hundreds of party people. You are invited.

It will be a wicked ruckus, a collection of “pimp motherfuckers and lovely ladies” at one of the bigger dance clubs in Seattle, Club Heaven, located in Pioneer Square.

Akin to the always popular techno luau, but more like an everything luau, the party christened “GET LEI’D,” will have a Polynesian theme served with a buffet of beats: dirty dirty house music, dubstep, glitch hop, breaks, FLORIDA breaks, TRIBAL breaks, dark techno and a lot more– enough to grill a pig over. OH AND a Sublime cover band– you guys probably don’t know any of the words to their songs.

Two rooms of action will also showcase a Tahitian dance troupe and their hula dancing, not to mention my friends the GoMeansGo go go dancers. Say that five times fast. Then get in the conga line, or do the limbo, but don’t miss the $4 Long Island Iced Teas, Blue Hawaiians, Sea Breezes and Pina Coladas. I can hear the ocean now.

Door discounts for bikini tops and Hawaiian shirts; you can get on the $8 RSVP list here and read all the details on the FB event page here.
