Due to popular demand I am writing up my showcase suggestions for the 2009 Decibel Festival which begins TOMORROW!

I have been pimping for this festival for a while; I believe strongly in the smart curation of the party. These lineups are not just thrown together, but rather placed with precision into intelligent mixes of eclectic talent. In case you haven’t figured it out by now, I write for Decibel, and am honored to be a part of Seattle’s EDM festival.

I have bolded my top pick for each day, and added links in orange to the showcase descriptions that I wrote up.

Happy Decibel everybody!

OH, you like your techno THAT WAY, do ya? I know what you mean.

l_c0b3ebc601d0435aaf2a59d8bb0cd1c5

Innerflight (who is the bomb shit of the entire universe just in case you didn’t know) and Decibel present:

Andreas Meid, or D.I.M. to you and me, scrapes the filth off the floor and crams it through the speakers and into your skull piece. His twisted bass and echoing bleeps are covered in stardust- all the better to grind up against the dark parts of your soul. D.I.M.’s thick techno and electro grabs you through the middle of the chest like Mola Ram and just when you think you can’t take any more, another fat, melodic layer drops on your head, contaminating you for the rest of your life. Producing two of the steaziest tracks of 2007 on Turbo Records, “Airbus” and “Sysiphos,” this in-demand artist has been hailed by everyone from Sven Vath to Justice, not to mention his production partner, Boys Noize. Having remixed The Presets, Chromeo, Midnight Juggernauts, Teenage Bad Girl and Franz Shape, D.I.M. is one of the nastiest, freakiest techno bangers on the planet, a statement with which the kids on his dance floor screaming “FILTHY!” will no doubt agree.

D.I.M. does it right on March 14 at Chop Suey along with Jerry Abstract, Anglo Satellite, PrEssHa, Recess, Levi Clark, & Menami.

Ghislain Poirier to play Broken Disco in Seattle April 17

Posted in Music News with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on February 11, 2009 by worldromper

Sounds like this spring is Berlin-mania for the cats of Broken Disco who have returned from an extended “fishing trip” (yeah some kind of trip) to blast back down in Seattle with some of the TIGHTEST lineups in the city- or quite possibly, THE tightest.

Drawing from four of Seattle’s most active music collectives (Decibel, Fourthcity, Sensory Effect and Shameless) and with lineups of eclectic artists from around the world espousing many electronic music genres, often at the same time, Broken Disco aims to assert Seattle’s place in the West Coast Future Sound Movement by throwing filthy fucking dance parties on a regular basis. Props!

February 20: Jona, Nutown Project, Jacob London, Broken Disconauts, Aurora Diving Club, Skyler, Dr. Mr. M, Eddie, and Mateo

March 14: D.I.M., Jerry Abstract, Anglo Satellite, PrEssHa, Recess, Levi Clark and Menami

April 17: Ghislain Poirier, Thomas Fehlmann, plus more TBA!

AND if you haven’t been to Chop Suey lately, you need to check it out again. They have added hella soundproofing so that condo-owning asshole who moved to Cap Hill and then complained about the noise can’t call the cops anymore, and the sound is better than ever! The second room remains as sweaty as hell, as it shall always be. All is right with the world; carry on.
