Los Angeles-based R/D harnesses the heavy energy of the West Coast in his new full-length album Liquid Heart Keeper, which combines the deep emotion of indie rock with the invigorating movement of electronic beats. Born out of electro, rinsed in IDM and blown dry with glitch hop, R/D’s newest music goes beyond the confines of genre to make dance floors fly with stirring melodies, sweeping build-ups and massive drops. Before you start crying because this party is in San Francisco at 103 Harriet Street and you’re not, just remember that it’s just a six hour drive from LA, a mere hop, skip and a jump away. Growing up in Texas gave me a distorted sense of distance and anything less than an eight hour drive is cheesecake!
Chinese New Year: Year of the Tiger (presented by an-ten-nae and Raindance) will also feature a midnight procession with the White Crane Lion dancers, a dragon dance, mask and tail making, live art and the Omshantea Tea Lounge. And probably some hippies.
For more information please visit an-ten-nae.net or the Facebook event page here.
*THIS JUST IN* A small number of $15 presale tickets are available here.

I AM A LASER is a post-Downtown LA Art Walk night of future culture celebration at the swank Club Nokia Mezzanine Bar that brings together wanderers, live painting and visual arts, and copious amounts of bass heavy glitch, dubstep, electro, urban hip hop, indie and gypsy. I AM A LASER is about cutting-edge exploration and expression, no matter what community you call home.
Also on the lineup: L. Croskey, and doing live painting will be Michael Pukac of Think Space Gallery and from Cannibal Flower, John Park:
More art from last month (and you can read my review here):
Another great shot from last month of R/D & the dance floor:
