Ctrl_Alt_Dlt: Seattle Techno *NEW MIX*

Posted in Artists, LISTEN TO THIS with tags , , , , , , on July 6, 2009 by worldromper

I LOVE techno, just so you know. I use the word ‘love’ loosely and for many things like blimps, porch swings and melted cheese but with techno, it is more like an addiction. A delicious, seductive addiction from which I have no desire to unchain myself from. Ever.

Ctrl_Alt_Dlt is my favorite techno DJ in Seattle and plays the smoothest minimal techno sets ever, animals with glowing eyes that creep up behind you in the night and bite your sweaty neck- and you LOVE it.

Chris handed me this mix, which was simply labeled “Seattle Techno” at the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. It quickly became the soundtrack of my weekend, providing bumping accompaniment in the rental car as I bounced from party to club to bar to hotel room in the realm of the afterhour.

Download Seattle Techno here.

If you are in Seattle, do not miss this festival. Tickets are $60 before July 1st, $75 after. Holy Day Out of Time.

Ctrl_Alt_Dlt & Seattle Techno TAKIN’ OVA

I have long been saying that Ctrl_Alt_Dlt is the shit, and it looks like Angel Alanis and Chicago-based Noisefloor Crew agree with me!

Click here to go to the Noisefloor blog and listen to his new mix!

I am a huge fan of Ctrl_Alt_Dlt, promoting him as the best techno DJ in Seattle and dancing to his beats like a madwoman whenever possible. In fact, Chris is in large part responsible for my throbbing, pulsing, unrelenting love of the genre, which originally I thought was just a phase. At this point however, I have come to terms with the fact that techno is another one of my lovely addictions.

A new breed of techno is coming out of Seatown with DJs in the city drawing from Detroit minimalism while at the same time injecting it with a funkier future vibe, creating a whole new animal which is on the rise and here to stay: SEATTLE TECHNO.

Going Down This Week (Nov 24-30)

Your weekly list of Shilo-approved electronic music events in Seattle:

Most of you are probably making Thanksgiving plans, driving to see the family, gathering friends around to eat pie and shit. Whatever. Have fun with your lame-ass holiday.

For the rest of us to whom the holidays mean nothing, guess what? It is time to party. Here:

Tuesday:

  • Naha Army at the Grotto (the basement of the Rendezvous in Belltown): bring your arms and your legs and party with Naha, MC Anton Bomb, Break 6, Mickey Procon aka Cory Popcorn, and lots of art! FREE!
  • VIBE at Contour with BANGIN’ TECHNO from Travis B, Ctrl_Alt_Dlt, pantycontrol, and Michito
  • M83 at Neumos- Electropop francais. All the music nerds will be here, gazing at their shoes.

Wednesday (Thanksgiving Eve!):

  • Kraak and Smaak at the Nectar bring one of the Netherland’s hottest acts to Fremont. Hot and sweaty.
  • Chilled-out dance church at the Church of Bass
  • GOBBLE ON DEEZ has a horrible name and even worse flyer (both no doubt dreamed up by some one with a y chromosome), but it is in the sweet new underground venue with two huge rooms in SoDo I have been hearing so much about. There are about 20 DJs but I am looking forward to Zacharia, Rob Noble, Manahan, Goner, Pressha, Noisemaker, and Northstar. $10, BYOB

Thursday:

  • Midtempo Madness: FREE glitch hop and crazy mid tempo shit at the Crimson C. NOTE: this is the last Thursday or any day you should ever go to Crimson C. They backed out on us for the use of their venue 1.5 weeks before our show IN TEXT. Bullshit business practices and you should no longer support this bar EVER. After Thursday.

Friday: LYNZIE’S BIRTHDAY!

  • Herbaliser at Nectar performing as full live band, Sun Tzu Sound opens.
  • Analog at Rebar: Deep House from Deep Space. Househeads rejoice.

Saturday:

  • Zacharia and Rob Noble at Onset, if ya missed ’em at Gobble on Deez
